The AMGEN Tour of California was broadcast live February 14th to 22nd. A “Tour de France-style” Road Race, the 800-mile course from Sacramento to Escondido challenged the world’s best riders including Lance Armstrong. Armstrong and several other riders had small cameras and audio equipment installed in their helmets by 3G Technologies providing a rider’s perspective of the course. To track the riders in real-time, Tour officials enlisted the aid of CenGen to connect high-fidelity voice and video from riders on the course back to centralized media broadcast hubs. CenGen made use of their aircraft and their wireless networking to provide the service.
