Projects-4
Defense Advanced Research Project
Agency Advanced Technology Office (ATO) Small
Unit Operations Situational Awareness System
Project Overview: DARPAs Small
Unit Operations Situational Awareness System is an effort
to extend communications and a common operational picture
down to the individual soldier. The main technology
thrust of this program is in multi-band capability.
SUO SAS is intended to enable deployed forces to set
up and maintain a voice and data network, including
geolocation data, reaching down to the individual soldier.
Or, as in the case of Homeland Defense, enabling rescuers
to accurately locate personnel and communicate individually
with them without depending on a fixed infrastructure
that can be damaged.
CenGen provided
Test Director role in SUO SAS testing efforts.
- CenGen system
engineered solutions to develop baseline testing and/or
baseline demonstration efforts to develop criteria
against which DARPA contractor efforts can be evaluated.
- CenGen provided
expert assistance in testing of systems via integration
of high-level components (e.g. radios, modems, antenna
systems, routers, switches, ground/airborne assets,
etc.), so they would function together and fulfill
a DoD LAN/WAN requirement.
